Farnborough: Bombardier gets its first African CSeries customer - but buyer is a mystery

Bombardier has landed its first African customer for the CSeries, with a letter of intent signed for five aircraft - but the manufacturer is not saying which airline has signed.

The airliner is said to be an existing Bombardier customer.but the company also declined to say whether the five aircraft are CS100s or CS300s, or whether the order could include both variants. The order is estimated at being worth $365 million at list prices.
"Our customer faces challenging operational environments and needs excellent range for hot and high performance as they expand into new and growing markets," said Bombardier Commercial Aircraft president Mike Arcamone.

There are three possible contenders: Arik Air, South African Express and Rwandair.
