EgyptAir and TAP Air Portugal expand code-share

EgyptAir and TAP Air Portugal, both members of Star Alliance, have agreed to strengthen their cooperation by expanding their current codeshare agreement through the inclusion of the new connections.

 

In enhancement of the first phase of the agreement between the two carriers which enabled EgyptAir customers to use TP flights to Lisbon via Rome, Milan, Madrid and Barcelona and vv, the extended agreement will enable 

EgyptAir and TAP Air Portugal expand code-share.

 

to put its code on TP flight via more intermediate major European hubs: Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt, Munich, Geneve and Vienna vv.  Furthermore, EgyptAir will place its code on TP flights to the City of Porto in Portugal via Amsterdam and from Porto to Vienna.

 

"This new stage of cooperation will offer passengers who wish to travel between Egypt and Portugal more facilities and new transport possibilities in terms of schedules and frequencies, shorter connections, with the objective of sustaining and developing the traffic flows between our two countries. Further, both airlines will have the advantage to offer their customers seamless transfers on their shared routes with only one reservation number and through-check-in facility to their final destination,” said SafwatMusalam, EgyptAir Holding Chairman & CEO. 

 

Capt.SherifEzzat EgyptAir chairman & CEO said:" Both airlines have longstanding relations that provide our customers with  many benefits such as reciprocal mileage accrual and redemption, check-in luggage to the final destination, use of common facilities and mutual coordination  in case of any schedule disruption.Moreover, the expanded codeshare agreement with our partner airline aims at giving our customers a better access to new horizons beyond EgyptAir network." Capt.Ezzat added:" EgyptAir is not only working on the enhancement of its digital footprint in the industry, but also Egypt’s Flag carrier focuses on network expansion through signing successful bilateral codeshare agreements with our partner airlines.”
