Astral in celebratory anniversary mood with new award and new aircraft
The award was presented as part of the biennial Air Cargo Africa event last week and marks the third time the Kenyan operator has won the award.
The dedicated cargo carrier began operations at the start of the millennium from a base at Jomo Kenyatta airport.
Today, it operates a fleet of seven aircraft including Cessna Caravan, Fokker 27, DC9, B727 and the flagship B747-400.
It is the largest cargo airline in terms of fleet size and links more than 50 destinations in Africa with Liege, Belgium through its Nairobi hub.
Next month the airline will acquire the first of two B737-400 freighters with 20-tonne capacity that will ply the routes such as Kinshasa, Brazzaville Lusaka and Lubumbashi.
